Obituary of Lelo Pires
Lelo Pires, age 51 of Bridgeport, a loving father and son, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025 surrounded by the love of his mother, family and friends. Born in Bridgeport on May 14, 1973, he was the son of Gloria Vieira Martins Pires of Bridgeport.
A graduate of Bullard Havens Technical School, he was a truck driver for the Town of Fairfield Highway Department.
Lelo was a long-time member of the Portuguese Rancho, R.F. Recordacoes de Portugal. Along with his uncle they formed the band Side Trac where Lelo was drummer and singer and later became the lead singer in the band B.O.D. Lelo was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Georgetown Hoyas and the New York Knicks and Yankees. He also enjoyed fishing and playing a game of pool.
Lelo was one of a kind. He had an infectious smile that would light up any room he walked in. He was the most loving and caring person and would give anyone the shirt off his back. He was the life of a party and so loved to sing, dance and make everyone around him happy.
But above everything, his love for his children was beyond measure. He treasured the time spent with his family, singing, dancing, playing video games and running around the yard. Lelo enjoyed taking Grayson and Tora fishing, teaching them and playing different sports and was thrilled to teach them how to play the drums. The memories they created will forever live in their hearts. He truly had a special bond with his mother and the support they showed each other was beyond admiration.
Though his passing is a devastating loss for many, Lelo’s love and spirit will live on through the many recipients of his organ donations.
In addition to his devoted mother Gloria, survivors include his spouse and friend, Tina Marie Legen Pires, his cherished and adored children, Grayson Alexander Pires and Victoria Lynn Pires, his uncles and aunts, Adriel (Eddie) Martins (Eva), Joaquina Ferreira, Maria Adelaide Oliveira, David Pires, Valdemar Pires, Ana Texeira, Antonio Pires and Teresa Timpanelli, a godson, Devin Roxo, cousin Michael Freitas, father-in-law, Bruce Legen, as well as several additional cousins and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Antonio and Maria Martins, and Maria Pires, his aunt Lisa Pires and mother-in-law, Susan Legen.
