Ralph was the life of the party and brought so much joy to the world. He was wise, funny, quick-witted - and always there with a smile, a little dance and a glass of wine to cheer you. He will be greatly missed. We spent so many Labor Day weekends and other days enjoying good food, laughter and company in Hamden at his son, Ralph, and Daughter-in-law Tracy’s house.
We will always cherish those days and keep them close in our hearts. Rest in peace Ralph. We will miss you. May your family be comforted by warm memories of a life though cut too short, was very well-lived.
God Bless, David, Denise, Dylan and Benny Zack

I will always remember, Ralph very fondly. I remember when you first moved into your new home and Ralph didn’t have time to plant basil, so I shared mine with him. And he shared with me his wonderful figs.
May he rest in peace. Dyane

I met Ralph when he first moved to Hawks Ridge and invited Dee Dee and I over for a cookout. We were immediately attracted to his warmth, generosity and humor. Ralph and Bernie became great friends and we had many great evenings of great food and great laughs. Ralph was two months older than me and one month older than another neighbor Hank and so the three of us had a lot in common. The photo of the three Amigos, see attached was taken in December of 2017. All three born in different countries within three months of each other and finally meeting in Hawks Ridge in 2017. We will miss Ralph's infectious laugh, we will miss Ralph's generosity, we will miss Ralph's advice but most of all we will just miss Ralph's friendship

I was/am so fortunate I that I live next door to Ralph and Bernadette. From the time I moved to Hawks Ridge, Ralph offered me assistance or advice in anything I might need. In the mornings, during the nice weather, we would examine our gardens and discuss what they needed or any topic that came to mind. He loved sharing squash, cucumbers or tomatoes that he had grown.
Ralph loved his gardening, making his wine, and socializing with others but clearly, the most important thing to Ralph was Bernadette, Kim and his entire family. He delighted in having his entire family over for cookouts and when he was given a pizza oven, he loved having a pizza making party.
I believe that the reason Ralph left us all too soon was because God needed a good, strong, and kind angel to help him. Ralph, rest in peace.

I am so, so sorry for your loss. Mr. D. was the best teacher ever! (Central High School Class of '82). He had a way of using his great humor to make learning fun and I looked forward to his class every day. I often tell stories about him to friends. I'm sure my children can probably recite the stories as well. He was a wonderful man who made a great impact. Ciao Signor Dioguardi....
Sempre nel mio cuore.

Ralph was a wonderful man! We've only had the pleasure of knowing him for a short time at Hawks Ridge. But even in that short time, we could easily see and recognize how charismatic, energetic, and full of life he was. Seeing him walking down the road with the family you knew you would have a laugh or a smile on your face from the wonderful conversations he evoked. Thank you Ralph for being you and spreading your joy to the community. Our deepest sympathy and condolences to the rest of your family in this tough time. The Hawks Ridge community is here for you all.

Ralph was a very friendly, easy-going, full of fun colleague-as one of our Italian teachers at Central High School in Bridgeport, CT for many years. He became our World Language Supervisor for some more years and was " a breath of fresh air"-very supportive of our world languages and all our teachers. One year, he hosted a group of French students from France and coordinated homes for the students to live in and organized trips and activities for them during their 2-week plus visit to the U.S.A. I will fondly remember his bright, friendly smile and willingness to help-a great team player. Above all, Ralph, for all the talents and abilities he had to teach, lead and share with others, he was a caring, loving and unassuming person. He had eternal boyish good looks and exuded confidence and love for life and for all people. I was saddened to hear of his illness and then his passing. May he rest in peace. Arrivederci, Ralph! Ciao! Au revoir, mon ami! My thoughts and prayers for his wife and all loved ones!

Falino has been like a grandfather for me and my brothers, like a big brother for my dad, and he has been the bridge between my Italian family and my American family. His smile, his enthusiasm, his passion for wine and food made him a great man and we will always remember him as the soul of the family and the party. Meeting Falino and the beautiful Dioguardi’s family has been a blessing for us and my family and I will always keep a strong relationship with them on behalf of Falino. We love you Falino.

Ralph was an awesome person. He was a great teacher who served thousands of Bridgeport students over many years. He was very proud to be a teacher and very honored as he carried the title of Director of World Languages for the Bridgeport Public Schools. He really cared about his students. I know this personally because I was in Mr. Dioguardi’s classes for 2 years in 1971 and 1973. We also taught together in the early 1980’s in the Adult Education Department. Ralph also invited me to many card games which he loved to play. I will never forget Mr. Dioguardi because he left a lasting memory of how good it was to have known and worked with him. RIP Ralph……it’s well deserved.
Respectfully….John Fabrizi

Cugino Ralph was always warm and welcoming. Although not often, the times we saw each other over the years, were always a good time and full of laughter. I enjoyed his stories about making wine and I was able to enjoy some soccer with him, including a Euro Cup final. I also am thankful for our short conversations in Italian, when I was first teaching myself the language. Riposare in pace

My heart is broken by the loss of this great man, Raffael! I was privileged to work as his assistant with the Bridgeport board of education and to become a friend to him and his beautiful family. If not for Ralph I would have not traveled to Italy on the trip of a lifetime. He will forever hold a special place in my heart. Rest in peace my dear friend.
Love,
Donna
