I am sincerely sorry this is so late, but the email got lost in my overfilled inbox. I am sorry to hear of Charlie's passing, but so glad to hear of his travels with his wife of so many years. I have wonderful memories of Charlie and the sage advice he shared with me and other engineers at TXC. He was a wonderful person, and he brightened the world around him.

Our warmest condolences to the Griebell family.
It was our luck to work with Charlie for many years in Transwitch in the 1990's. Charlie was one of the nicest, honest, warm, father figure to us, especially my wife Suzanne. Suzanne was in tears when she heard the news. Charlie will always be in our heart and we need to thank him for lighting up so many lives like us in his journey.
Warmest

This is Adam Dichsen, husband of Karen Dichsen (Dodson), son of Robert Dodson (Charles' cousin). I first met Charles and Lorraine at our Illinois wedding in 2004 as they made the trip and connected with their Midwest family. Karen and I were captivated by their elegance and gentle nature and so badly wanted to find a way to visit them. The opportunity arose in 2006 after we spent a summer Washington D.C. We made the trek up the coast and had a fantastic visit! Charles and Lorraine took us on a tour along the coastline and through the town... lucky for us there was a seafood festival at the time! They took us out to eat at a quaint little diner, showed us their beautiful artwork, and I learned a lot about UCONN basketball as we enjoyed the amazing view of the Atlantic and "Charles' Island." I am so grateful that we had this time together, even though it was so long ago. Our hearts ache for your loss, but we also celebrate with you Charles' legacy of faith and love and the hope we share in Jesus Christ. May God give you comfort in this time of pain and Light in the midst of all darkness. Much love... the Dichsens

Charlie was my beloved father-in-law. When I first met him, I immediately felt a sense of warmth, stability and reassurance and that carried on for as long as I've known him. You could literally count on him for ANYTHING and trust that the research he did (i.e. for car purchases, home improvements, etc.) was fully accurate and spot on. He was a man who truly put his family first and above anything else and he would never hesitate to drop everything and immediately step in to help. RIP C.G.!

From Richard & Norma O’Neill (Richard and Charles were first cousins, their Mom’s were sisters, Helen and Catherine.
Charles was my cousin and friend. We spent a lot of time
together when we were young. As the years went by and we went through our lives we would try to get together.
I remember going Upstate with Charles, while Uncle Charlie and Aunt Catherine were remodeling their summer house. These were such great times. Charles was such an inspiration.
When Norma and I lived in North Carolina, Charles and Lorraine were so happy to be with us. We took a ride to show them the store that we were to buy an Art and Framing shop, we tried to come up with a name for it and Charles said “Wake Forest Art and Frame Gallery!”We decided that was the name for the shop! Charles and Lorraine were such special people to us! We will never forget you Charles! We love you! Our deepest condolences to Lorraine. your children and grandchildren. Love Norma and Richard O’Neill

I first met Charles when we both joined a development group at Western Union in 1969 and I was a recent immigrant from England adapting to my new environment. I also worked with and for him on other major telecommunications endeavors at ITT until 1986 and at TranSwitch from 1994 to 2002. Those were the most satisfying years of my career. His support and coaching were major factors in my progress and pleasure in my work. Charles was all that could be hoped for as a friend, colleague, and supervisor. After I sadly learned of his illness and death, I recalled our times together and tried to itemize his positive attributes that made him one of the most important people in my life. There were many, and I suspect that I missed some. I will always remember him for his professional achievements and be grateful for his contributions to my well-being.
I would like to take this opportunity to send my condolences to his family, other relatives, and friends who are now mourning his departure.

I always looked forward to receiving Charles and Lorraine’s Christmas card and letter. They would include pictures of their family and high lights from their travels and memories.
Charles and Lorraine had a special kind of love. They were a team! I would love to invite them to different occasions that I had over the years and see how him and my dad would be so happy to be together. God Bless all of his family at this sad time. You are all in my heart.

Charlie was more of a brother than friend. I came to know him in March 1976 when I joined ITT's International Telecommunication Center ( later renamed as Advanced Technology Center ). We were colleagues at ITT for more than 10 years .I left ITT in 1986 October and moved to Virginia.
In 1988 , I moved back to CT and cofounded TranSwitch with Dan Upp, Mike McCoy , Dr Stu Flaschen and few other people.
Charlie soon joined us and the rest was history. He was the conscience and the soul of the company.
His contribution in the company was not limited to any particular area or department---he rolled up his sleeves to help each of us .
Because of his presence, I felt more secure mentally as I knew that I could turn to him for advice whenever I needed it.
He was a straight shooter and his advice was always unvarnished .
He and I had also something in common--we both were fans of the Swedish band Abba. May his soul rest in peace !
