Dear Alison and family,
I want to share my deepest condolences for your loss. Chuck and I worked together for many years at Gen Re. In addition to his obvious knowledge and talent, he was an incredible and patient teacher. I learned so much from him every time I talked to him. He was also so gracious with his time and was always open to helping you figure something out. His perspective was invaluable. He made an impact and made me better at my job, for which I’m grateful. On a personal level, he lit up when talking about the family. Clearly you all were the center of his life! My prayers are with you and your family.

Our Gen Re family are still struggling to comprehend what Gen Re will be like without Chuck. He truly was one of kind. Incredibly smart (I mean incredibly!), kind, generous, humble, patient, I could go on.. Chuck raised the bar at Gen Re. We made better decisions because of him which is a rare talent. He leaves Gen Re stronger because of our interactions with him. We're going to miss him terribly.
My thoughts and prayers go to the Veres family but I also want to express my thanks for sharing him with us. He had such a positive influence on so many people including myself.

I worked with Chuck at Gen Re until 2012. While our business interactions were minimal, we found common ground in that we both lived in Trumbull and that our children knew each other at THS. I was so sorry to hear this sad news and our sincerest condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to all the Veres family from the Foster family. Frank Foster and family.

My sincere condolence to the Veres Family. Hope you all stay strong as Chuck would wish to see so.
I worked closely with Chuck for 5 years. During the past 5 years, he was my mentor, friend and my biggest supporter. Most of my US CAT knowledge and skill sets came from Chuck. I got so used to running to his desk for all kinds of questions and concerns and he never said no to my requests, sharing his inspiring thoughts with me generously. Working on CAT deals were hard, but he was the backbone of Gen Re and always helped the company to make the right decision.
I felt so sorry to lose him and working without Chuck would not be easy to us but thought he would be happy to know all of us live well and move forward.
Appreciate everything that you have done for me. Rest in peace, Chuck. We all love you and miss you.

Jason Adams on behalf of FM Global:
On behalf of everyone at FM Global who crossed paths with Chuck we are profoundly saddened by his passing. Chuck was almost always the smartest guy in the room but he never made you feel intellectually inferior. He had a phenomenal temperament and quiet confidence.
I will miss his wittiness and laugh. On a professional level, I will miss his never ending quest to find the optimal reinsurance structure for our firm. He could diagnose a reinsurance problem like few others I’ve encountered in the 5 years I’ve been in this role.
Please accept our deepest condolences.

I am so truly sorry for your loss. I had the honor and privilege of working with Chuck for many years. Not only was he the consummate professional, Chuck was truly one of the most brilliant people I have ever had the pleasure to know. I learned so much from Chuck over the years. He was a joy to be around and work with. He loved what he did, and his love for his family was always present- all the pictures on his desk, and how he would smile when talking about them! He was so proud of all of his children!
Chuck was wonderful person who will truly be missed by those who knew him.
May his memory always bring light to your hearts. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I first met Chuck about 2 years after joining Gen Re and interacted with him regularly over roughly 8 years until I left the company. No-question Chuck was one of my favorite people at Gen Re (which is saying a lot), he was extremely generous with his time and taught me a lot. It left an impact on me that someone in Chuck's position was willing to spare time to bring along a young person still learning, even though he didn't need to, and we didn’t even work in the same department.
Aside - Chuck might have been the most gifted MS excel operator I ever sat with, learned a lot of tricks from him I still use today.
Sad I never got to say goodbye to Chuck. We will keep Chuck and his family in our prayers,
Phil

My deepest condolences to the Veres family for your loss. I too worked with him at General Re, and although we did not have day-to-day interactions, we shared many good conversations throughout the years. Chuck was a brilliant, unassuming nice guy who was respected by everyone in the organization. He will be missed by many. My prayers go out to you Alison and your entire family.

I have known Chuck for a relatively short time, I met him in June 2019 when I joined Gen Re, yet it feels that I have known Chuck for half of my life, that was one of Chuck's superpowers. His brilliance was plain for all to see, yet his unassuming ways made him so approachable. Beyond being a kind and great person, Chuck was one of our best teachers at Gen Re, he took care to put everything into context, gave ample background information, all because he cared. I will personally miss you dearly my friend, we will all miss you.
To his family, I can't even start to imagine the depth of your loss, the immensity of the void that Chuck left. I am so profoundly sorry for your loss. There are pains that are too great for one person to carry alone, so I pray that the God of Comfort comforts you in this moment of deep sorrow.

My condolences to the Veres family. We were very lucky to have Chuck as a colleague at Gen Re. His brilliance was clear but he had such a unique ability to teach others with his calm demeanor in a way that allowed the rest of us to learn from him. Chuck always made time for others, putting aside whatever he was working on to talk you through your questions. We all had questions, lot of questions, because Chuck was always many steps ahead of the rest of us. He was so proud of his family and would always find a way to weave them into a conversation. We will miss Chuck and his kindness greatly.

My family and I will keep the Veres family in our thoughts and prayers as the mourn the loss of their loving husband and father. I have had the good fortune to work with Chuck over the past few years at Gen Re and I have truly enjoyed getting to know him and to learn from him. Chuck’s willingness to share his vast knowledge is what really stood out to me. Not only would he take the time to share and teach, but he also had the ability to break very complex things down for those that were still learning. Chuck will truly be missed by all his Gen Re colleagues.

My condolences to the Veres family in this sad time. I worked with Chuck at Gen Re. He was a kind and gracious soul. We shared stories of being hockey parents and it was obvious he was proud of his daughter's prowess in the sport. I am saddened to hear of Chuck's passing. He will be missed by all of us at Gen Re.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Veres family. I will always remember Chuck’s kindness and generosity with his time to help us all understand the world of catastrophe underwriting. My favorite memory of Chuck was how he displayed his priorities so clearly on his desk. His desk was never cluttered with paper or files but always had four pictures of his children displayed prominently front and center. His love of family was evident for everyone to see. It was a great example for us all. It will be a lasting memory for me. Gary Vaughan

My condolences to the Veres Family. I worked with Chuck for 20 of his 30+ yrs. at Gen Re and greatly benefited from the knowledge that he was very willing to share with all, and the help he was eager to provide.
Clients likewise valued Chuck’s knowledge and expertise. We were in a conference room last year with both the senior management of a client and Gen Re. When Chuck finished his presentation and left the room, the client’s President commented that the average IQ of the room just took a big hit. We all agreed. He will be missed. Gerry Hopkins
