Life moves on, but memories don’t. You may have gone away, but our friendship is right here....in my heart. I miss you.
I have known Ronnie since 1973, when I began working at Raybestos. While I hadn't seen him in several years, he always texted me or called me on my birthday in October, and I did the same for him on his birthday.
As he had done last year, he called me on my birthday on October 2nd. I did not realize that would be the last time I would hear his voice. Two weeks later, he passed away.
Rest In Peace, my friend.
Debbie

To Ron's Family,
My dad was Dr. George Roberge. Dad passed 15 years ago and often talked about your dad,, Al Haines and all the Safety programs that were initiated by you men, and the bonuses given. to all employees in Stratford. In the late 50's I worked in the maintenance department as Steamfitters helper. i can recall once when a bag of dry asbestos broke, and an emplyee was close to it and was rushed to Bridgeport Hospital. An ambulance brought him in the next morning. He demanded it. He would not break the record. Raybestos was non union and Bill Simpson and his great management team ket as their #1prioriy. The best people from other manufacturers would come applying at the first opening. Vets and family were first prioritty. They trained you wanting you to succeed .....100%.
I am 78 now and have been retired 18 years. It is a crying shame the plant on E. Main is buried. My dad missed right up to the moment he passed. He and your dad were teamates. Now they are together forever. They and Al earned their reward from God together by caring together for their fellow man.
Ron...we will be joining them in due time! They taught us love our fellow man and love of God.
Can you imagine the fun they are having? They are probably celebrating you dad at one of those outings.
Be Proud, And kindest Regards,
George E. Roberge, Jr.

Dear Ron, Kathleen and family,
My deepest sympathies for the passing Ronald C. Porto. Peace be onto you and your family in this period of great loss.
The passing of one's father and grandfather, no matter the age and how prepared they believes they are, when the passing happens, we quickly learn just how unprepared and profound the lost . Take comfort in the years you had together, the knowledge that the love expressed and shared over those years will live on in the hearts, soul, and memory of all those your Dad touched. I too know this loss.
Roald C. Porto lived a good and honorable life, raised a fine and worthy son, a role model to his grandchildren, and friend to his neighbors and co-workers. God has another angel at his side and one you can talk to in times of trouble.
With all our sympathy
Mell Estrada & Family
