Obituary of Regina M. Manns

Regina M. Heard Manns, age 69, of Stratford, beloved wife of Joe C. Manns, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bridgeport on June 29, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Mack and Elsie Beulah Quillian Heard. Regina was a retired supervisor with 32 years of services for the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services. Regina also worked at Coleman Park Nursing Center assisting with medical records and was a compassionate patient advocate to the residents. Regina was a very loving and generous person. She was always looking for ways to help others. She was a trusted confidant, known for being a straight shooter. She told it like it was. She enjoyed reading, traveling, shopping and in recent years surfing the World Wide Web. She was a devoted member of Mount Aery Baptist Church where she served as a Missionary and sang in the choir until her illness. With a gift for gab, Regina had an abundance of friends and had a personality where she never met a stranger. She made everyone feel at ease, so at ease in fact that she had people telling her more than they intended before they knew it. She was a truly unique and special individual. In addition to her beloved husband of 25 years, Joe, survivors include a son, Christopher Pina of Bridgeport, a step daughter, Erica Manns of Atlanta, GA, cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Xavier, Steven and Brandon; siblings, Maxine Heard of Canton, MA, David Heard of Bridgeport, Solange Bell and her husband David of Stoughton, MA and Ursula Heard of Lynn, MA, cousin Barbara Clemons, sister-in-law, Betty Manns, brother-in-law, William Manns, great aunt, Elease Breedlove, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Milton Heard and two sisters, Roxanne Adams and Donna Heard. Regina had a special relationship with her god-daughter Kathy Smalls. In addition, she had several friends that held a special bond and place in her life including Joyce Meyers and Jackie Russo. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. directly in Mount Aery Baptist Church, 73 Frank St., Bridgeport with Pastor Anthony L. Bennett presiding. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday morning from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Mount Aery Baptist Church. Arrangements entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Acknowledgements The family of Regina M.
