I knew Dick Burlant as 'Mr. Burlant', an incredibly talented and warm man who directed the Jazz/Rock band that was part of the Bridgeport Youth Symphony Orchestra in the early 1970s. I played trumpet in the band and what memories! We all held him in such high regard as a stellar musician and learned so much from him. Thank you, Mr. Burlant and may you RIP.

Mr. Burlant was a wonderful teacher. He taught me to play the flute in High School. He was kind and caring. I was saddened by this news. He did make a difference in kids lives. Thank you Mr. Burlant.

Dear Mrs. Burlant and Chris, I was saddened to hear of Dick's passing. I'm sorry for your loss. Dick was good to me when I was a kid growing up in Bridgeport. My dad used to take me to Jazz Giants rehearsals and he would always rave about Dick's playing and writing. A few years later Dick was very encouraging to me as a member of the UB Jazz program and he helped me improve as a sax player. I went on to have a nice professional career in music and Dick had a hand in helping me succeed. I benefited greatly from knowing him and I always enjoyed his company on our Sonny Costanzo gigs. I will remember him fondly. Sincerely Paul Mariconda
