Obituary of Barry T. Zmijewski

Barry Zmijewski, age 61, beloved husband of Karen Schwab Zmijewski and longtime resident of Trumbull, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born on August 29, 1955 in Bridgeport, he was a son of the late John T. and Shirley Carlson Zmijewski. Barry was employed at Norden Systems and Sikorsky Aircraft where he retired as a Software Engineer. Barry was also a Board Member of the Trumbull Historical Society, enjoyed fishing and an avid bowler; he was proud of bowling a few perfect games. Barry was a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife Karen of 32 years, Barry is survived by brothers, John Zmijewski and his wife Mari of Omaha, NE, and Richard Zmijewski and his wife Mary of Trumbull; sister-in-laws, Karen Zmijewski of Monroe, Elaine Schwab and Kathleen Bouchard both of Stratford, and Maureen Caruso and her husband John of Charolette, NC; cherished nieces and nephews, Dina, Andrew, Caitlin, Thomas, Daniel, Matthew and Emily. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Thomas Zmijewski. The family would wish to extend a special thanks to Dr. Neal Fischbach and staff, Dr. Frank Spano and staff, and all the members of his Sikorsky family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 8, at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull, CT. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday, September 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
