Obituary of Sharon Naomi Peterson
"In God's World no life is lost"
Sharon Naomi Peterson, 69 of Monroe, CT., passed peacefully after a brief illness on March 11, at Yale New Haven Hospital, where she worked for over 40 years. Sharon graduated from the University Of Bridgeport and devoted her life to helping others as an operating room nurse, making several medical mission trips to Third World Countries to perform surgery on children with cleft lips and palates. She was an active 42 year member of the Order of Eastern Star Alice#76, dual member of Lady Martha Chapter #103, serving the State of CT as Worthy Grand Matron with Peter Sponheimer from 2002-2003. She was also former Mother Advisor of West Haven Assembly #5. In addition, Sharon was also a volunteer for the Masonic Chips Program and active at the Monroe Senior Center making many crocheted items including prayer shawls for Hospice patients.
Sharon was a kind spirit who would never hesitate to help someone in need. Her friendly smile and warm personality were always something to look forward to. Sharon often used her creative talents to make thoughtful gifts for friends and family that will be forever cherished in her memory. Her company and unconditional love will be deeply missed.
Sharon was predeceased by her biological father Arnnis (Jack) Wetherell and adoptive parents John and Lillian (Pihl) Peterson of Branford. She is survived by siblings Ronnie, Sheila and Debbie and dear friends Patricia Shelton, Lisa, Phil, Ryan, PJ and Cynthia Pane and Maryann Babcock.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, with Rev. Carl Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Monroe Center Cemetery, Monroe. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4-8 p.m, with an Eastern Star Service taking place at 7 p.m.
