Obituary of Ione K. Myers

Ione K. Myers, age 103, of North Haven and formerly of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles B.J. Myers. Born in Portland, OR, on April 25, 1912, Mrs. Myers had been employed by the City of Bridgeport where she worked as a crossing guard before her retirement with over 60 years of dedicated service. She later worked as a Teacher's Assistant. She was very active in the Bridgeport Democratic Party and was very proud to have been the founder of the Marion Award which is given to Girl Scouts. She found great enjoyment knitting, which was evident through the numerous afghans that she had made for family and friends. She was proud to have been a member of the Girl Scouts of America and the Catholic Daughter's Association. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Marilyn E. Russell of Morris and James A. Myers and his wife Linda of North Haven, her daughter-in-law, Mayves Myers of TX, her five loving grandchildren, Robert Myers of NJ, Sean Myers and his wife Erica of RI, Keith Myers, Samantha Myers, both of North Haven and Christina Myers of Boston, six cherished great grandchildren, Robert Myers Jr, Nolan Myers, Krista Clark, Jessica Myers, Elizabeth Miranda and Brandon Myers, as well as her five adored great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also predeceased by her step-mother, Amanda Anderson, her son, Charles D. Myers, a daughter-in-law, Sybil Myers and a granddaughter, Kathleen Myers. Friends and relatives are invited to meet directly in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport, on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Inurnment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull is in charge of arrangements.
