Obituary of Amelia F. Mezzo

Amelia (Millie) Esposito Mezzo, age 83, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late John R. Mezzo, died on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, in St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on May 4, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Filomena Leonetti Esposito. In her youth, Millie modeled for many local department stores. She was a hard worker who spent many years alongside her husband and family at Del Prete Italian Pastry Shop in Bridgeport, where she could always be found behind the counter, wearing a white uniform and with her hair in its trademark beehive. In her heyday, she was an excellent cook and homemaker; everyone enjoyed gathering at Aunt Millies house for the holidays. Millie was a member of the St. Theresa Guild at Holy Rosary Church, and she enjoyed senior citizen day trips. Survivors include a son, Louis Mezzo, and his wife, Betty, of Stratford; a daughter, Camille (Cookie) Santoro, and her husband, Domenico, of Milford; her dedicated and loving brother, Louis Esposito, and his wife, Vivian, of Bridgeport; five grandchildren, who were a source of great pride, John Mezzo, Michael Mezzo, Luanne Mezzo, Dr. Frank Santoro, and Dominick Santoro as well as many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Rachel Stabile and Lena Raucci, and a brother, James Esposito. The family wishes to thank Dr. Frank Santoro for his guidance and the caregivers at JHE and St. Vincent Medical Center for their compassionate care during Millies illness.
