Obituary of Frances O. Merola

August 03, 2008 Bridgeport Resident Frances Nana Garrick Merola, age 82, of Bridgeport, died peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 2, 1925 she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Osyth Harless Garrick. Mrs. Merola was a member of the former First English Lutheran Church, where she was a proud member of the choir. Nana was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who dedicated her life to the love and care of her family. She was blessed with a large family who she truly loved and who loved her very dearly. They were always at each others side until her death. Nana will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She also took great enjoyment in traveling, visiting many beautiful places such as Rome, Paris and Germany. Survivors include her beloved husband of 64 years, Nicholas Merola, eight children, Lanett Henthorn of Bridgeport, Dorothy Frode of Iowa, Walter Peffers (Merola) of Bridgeport, Mary Buzzell and her husband Fred of Stratford, Angelina Besse of Bridgeport, Lt. Col. Michael Merola and his wife Pam of New York, Georgia A. Merola of Bridgeport and Laurie Bellocchio of Greenwich, three sisters, Helen Pace of MS, Verde Lee Winsell and Faye Haskins, both of CA, 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, a loving nephew Jerry Coleman as well as several additional nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Ava Ray Leg. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. George Episcopal Church, 755 Clinton Avenue, Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
