Obituary of Louis C. Mennillo

U.S. Army Veteran of World War II Louis C. Mennillo, age 87, of Bridgeport, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012 at St. Vincents Medical Center. Born in Brigeport on June 9, 1924, he was a son of the late Angelo and Louise Mastroni Mennillo and was a lifelong city resident. Mr. Mennillo was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 177. Before his retirement he was a foreman at the former Bridgeport Hydraulic Company for over 38 years. He enjoyed trips to the casino with Rita, gardening and cooking. He was a loving and compassionate man who was always feeding animals in the neighborhood and had many years of enjoyment with his dog Fefe. Survivors include his beloved companion, Rita Rowe, four children, Angela Chacho, Louis Mennillo and his wife Theresa, Charles Mennillo and his wife Donna and Elaine McCarthy, two sisters, Angelina Zelle and Ann Carrano, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son in law, Stephen Chacho, four brothers, John, Dominic, Michael and Steven Mennillo and three sisters, Phyllis Card, Mary Marella and Margie Sullivano. The family would like to extend thanks to the CVU Staff, 8th floor of St. Vincent Medical Center for the dedicated care they provided. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Assumption Church, Fairfield for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. The members of American Legion Post 177 will exemplify a ritual 6p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
