Obituary of Carmela Mazza
Resident of Bridgeport
Carmela (Tadduni) Mazza of Bridgeport entered into the care of the Lord on Monday, April 14, 2008. She is the widow of Joseph Mazza and the daughter of the late Vincent and Nina Tadduni. Born on July 14, 1915 in Philadelphia, PA, Mrs. Mazza moved to Graniti, Sicily at age seven. She returned to Bridgeport in 1947, where she made her home until her passing. Soon after moving to Bridgeport, she worked at Warner Brothers and the Buckle Shop. After many years of retirement and caring for her extended family, she returned to work as a cafeteria aide in the Bridgeport Public Schools, working at Maplewood Annex, where the students called her Nonna. Mrs. Mazza was a member of St. Patrick Church Prayer Shawl Guild. She was an avid gardener, growing flowers, figs, tomatoes and other vegetables which she shared generously with her family. She was the source of enormous amounts of love, courage and strength for her family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by two daughters, Nina DeBenedetto and her husband Anthony of Bridgeport and Elizabeth Coyne and her husband Edward of Trumbull, her sister, Josephine Cataldo of Bridgeport, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Santa Yacovelli, and two brothers Thomas Tadduni and Frank Tadduni. Funeral Information
Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 18, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Donations Information
