Obituary of Carole J. Matera

Beloved Mother and Grandmother Carole Jisonna Matera, 70, entered peacefully into eternal rest on July 6, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 11, 1936 to the late Salvatore and Angela Magi Jisonna, and was the devoted wife of the late Frank Matera Sr. Mrs. Matera was a beloved mother and grandmother, and a loving sister, aunt and friend. She was very passionate about the things she cared about most; at the top of the list were her four grandchildren. Mrs. Matera was born in Fairfield and was a resident of Bridgeport most of her life. She was a computer operator for the City of Bridgeport at Central High School for almost thirty years before her retirement in January, 2006; her retirement party was an honor she spoke about every day. She was an avid reader, pinochle & mah jong player and loved to watch old movies. Mrs. Matera is survived by her daughter, Christine Gorneault and her boyfriend, Tom Rush; her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Grace Matera Jr.; her four grandchildren, Gary, Greggory & Gina Gorneault and Kelly Matera, brother and sister-in-law, Larry & Barbara Jisonna; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce & Tom Beckwith; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Shirley & Joe Totora; brother-in-law Don Marchetti; aunt and uncle Millie & Sal DiIulio; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her sister Frances Marchetti. Rest in peace now, Mom/MeMa. Well love you always Funeral Information Friends and relatives can meet directly in Holy Rosary Church, 365 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, for a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2006. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
