Obituary of Frank Martire
U. S. Army Veteran of World War II
Frank Martire, Sr., age 84, of Bridgeport, a retired employee of Bridgeport Brass, died Tuesday, August 3, 2004 in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on October 19, 1919 he was the son of the late Matteo and Martha Grausso Martire. A U. S. Army Veteran of the World War II, Mr. Martire was proud of his distinguished military service, he was the recipient of a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. He was also a Union Official at Bridgeport Brass. Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Viola Postiglione Martire, a daughter, Barbara Santacroce and her husband, John of Bridgeport, a son, Frank Martire, Jr. and his wife, Marisa of WI and a brother, Ralph Martire of Stratford, five grandchildren, Deane, Marisa, Johnny, Frank, III and Jason and a great grandson, Dominic, as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to meet directly in the lower chapel of St. Patrick Church, 851 North Ave., Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 6, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. Entombment with full military honors will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
