Obituary of Salvatore Mariconda

U.S. Navy Veteran Salvatore Mariconda, age 86, of Derby, passed away at the Maefair Health Care Center in Trumbull, on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband for 58 years of the late Mary Monterosso Mariconda. Born in Bridgeport, on December 20, 1925, he was a son of the late Tomasso and Vincenza Rutoli Mariconda. A U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Mariconda was employed as a truck driver for Yellow Freight where he had worked for over 35 years before his retirement. He loved photography and was an avid car enthusiast. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his son, Thomas Mariconda and his spouse Walter Dembowski of Shelton and his daughter, Marianne Carroll and her husband Morgan of Bridgeport; his grandchildren, Meghan Gervasio of FL and Jennifer Dowler and her husband Warwick of Stratford. He is also survived by a brother, Dominic Mariconda and his wife Eleanor of Stratford, three sisters, Mary Mottola and her husband Jimmy of Milford, Shirley Toth and her husband Richard of Easton and Jean Guidone of Dallas, TX. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Jennie Gervasio, two brothers, Nicholas Mariconda and his wife Helen and Thomas Mariconda, two sisters, Anna Esposito and her husband Joe and Tina Peters and her husband, Charlie and a brother-in-law, Frank Guidone. Funeral Information A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 10:00 am in St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 661 Old Post Rd., Fairfield. Inurnment with military honors will follow in the Memorial Garden at the church. There are no calling hours.
