Obituary of Michele Forte

Resident of Bridgeport Michele (Michael) Forte, age 86, of Bridgeport, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at St. Vincents Hospital after suffering a stroke. Born in Tufo di Minturno, Italy on January 4, 1922, Michael was the son of Francesco and Angela (Ciarnella) Forte also from Italy. He served in the Carabinieri, which is the national gendarmerie (Italian Military Police Force which is a branch of the Army) of Italy that police both the military and civilian populations, from 1942 to 1953. On February 28, 1954, he married Giovanna (Jennie) Ciufo Forte and together shared 54 years until his passing. They both settled in the United States and raised a family in Bridgeport, CT. Michael was proud of his Italian heritage, cooking, and especially music. He enjoyed making homemade wine and working in his garden. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Associazione Nazionale Carabinieri in Yonkers, NY. He was a member of St. Raphaels Parish. Michael most recently worked for The University of Bridgeport, Bullards Tool and Die Company, The Dictaphone Corporation, and The Bridgeport Brass Company. Michael is survived by his wife Giovanna (Jennie) Ciufo Forte, son Joseph F. Forte of Bridgeport, son Henry Forte, daughter-in-law Deborah, and grand-daughter Madeline Lucia Forte all from Milford. He is also survived by his niece Agnese Forte located in Scotch Plains, NJ. He is predeceased by his brother, Giuseppe Ciarnella Forte, a lieutenant in the Carabinieri, his brother and sister law, Natale and Rose Visalli from Utica, NY and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margarets Shrine, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
