Obituary of Constantine Marchellos

Bridgeport Resident Constantine (Gus) Marchellos, age 87, of Bridgeport, died on Saturday, September 23, 2006 in St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in New York, NY on January 19, 1919 he was a son of the late George and Mabel Hann Marchellos. Gus was a U. S. Army Air Corp veteran of WW II, and retired from the U. S. Government Department of Defense with over 35 years of service. Along with his wife Sabina, they enjoyed ballroom dancing and also traveled on many Cruises together. He was an active member of the local senior center were he was a proud member of the choir. In his youth, Gus was an avid handball player who won many trophies and competed on a national level and participated in amateur wrestling. He also previously instructed self defense classes for the New York City Police Department. Gus had a strong love and devotion to his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be sadly missed. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Daniel Marchellos. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Sabina Marano Marchellos, three devoted children, Gary Marchellos and his wife Lyn of Wilton, Norine Marchellos of Stratford and Janice Snyder of Shelton, five loving grandchildren Stacy, Brian, Nicole, Michael and Kimberly, two cherished great grandchildren Jack and Logan, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday September 27, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church 4070 Park Ave. Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A Trisagion service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home.
