Obituary of Elsie Malay

Elsie Sterbinsky Malay, age 95, of Shelton, a retired sales clerk for Levitz, Grants and Columbia Records, died on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at her residence. Born in Bridgeport on November 5, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Ilona Sterbinsky. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a very kind and generous woman who will be missed by all.

She was the widow of Joseph Malay, former professional baseball player for the New York Giants and was also pre-deceased by a daughter-in-law, Paulette Malay and four sisters, Irene, Olga, Helen and Grace.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph Malay and his wife, Elizabeth of Shelton and Robert Malay of Milford, eight grandchildren, Joseph Malay and his wife, Joan, Lorraine Williams, Mary Oliva and her husband, Peter, Susan Skoog and her husband, Richard, Karen McLaughlin and her husband, Brian, Shaun Malay, Kelley Malay and her husband, Antonio Lupini of Italy and Timothy Malay, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 8, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 12:00 noon in St. Lawrence Church, Huntington for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
