Obituary of Joseph C. Malay

Joseph C. Malay, age 80, of Shelton, beloved husband of Elizabeth Sinclair Malay, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY on February 12, 1933, he was a son of the late Joseph and Elsie Sterbinsky Malay. Mr. Malay was a United States Air Force veteran serving in the Korean War. Before his retirement, he was a foreman for the former Southern New England Telephone Co. with over 31 years of service. Joseph was a longtime parishioner of St. Lawrence Church. His greatest joy was spending time with his family at gatherings and on vacations. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf with his buddies. He took great pride and joy in watching and attending all of his grandchildrens sporting events, concerts and recitals. In addition to Elizabeth, his wife of 55 years, survivors include five children, Joseph C. Malay III and his wife Joan of Shelton, Lorraine Williams of Shelton, Mary Oliva and her husband Peter of Monroe, Susan Skoog and her husband Richard of Monroe, Karen McLaughlin and her husband Brian of Monroe, a brother, Robert Malay of Milford, ten grandchildren, Elizabeth Philpott and her husband Sean, Emily and Benjamin Malay, Erin and Charlotte Oliva, Jonathon, Jenny and Ally Skoog and Baden and Adam McLaughlin as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
