Obituary of Frank J. Maco

Resident of Stratford Frank J. Maco, age 90, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Tess Petruccelli Maco, died peacefully on June 5, 2010 in St. Vincents Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on March 9, 1920, he was the son of the late Stephen and Martha Jankura Maco and was a U.S Army veteran. Frank was a retired Foreman of 38 years for Bridgeport Brass Company and Deputy Sheriff of the Fairfield County Court. He was a combat veteran of WWII and was awarded the European, African, and Middle Eastern Campaign medals with three Campaign bronze stars. He was awarded the combat Infantrymans badge, and fought with the 5th armys 88th division and the 350th Blue Devils during the Monte Cassino Monastery Campaign in 1944. During the Liberation of Rome in June of 1944, with the forces of General Mark Clark, Frank was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Presidential Unit Citation and the Distinguished Unit Citation for Meritorious combat achievement against the enemy during Rome and Arno Campaign. He is survived by his two loving children, a son, Retired Litchfield States Attorney, Frank S. Maco Sr. and his wife Nancy Lou of Stratford, a daughter, Teri Benigno and her husband Larry of Stratford, Sister, Anna Mihalko of Stratford, Sister in law Rita Petruccelli of Gorham, Maine. A cherished grandson, Frank S. Maco Jr. and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Lord Chamberlain Health Care Center 2nd floor and the 7th floor staff at St. Vincents Medical Center for all their care and compassion during their time of need. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Tuesday June 8th at 10:00 a.m. from the from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St Johns Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.
