Obituary of Nicholas Bellizzi

U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II Nicholas Bellizzi, age 81, of Derby, formerly of Bridgeport, died on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 in Griffin Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on September 21, 1927, he was a son of the late Antonio and Rose Bellizzi. A U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, Nicholas was a retired supervisor for the City of Bridgeport Recreation Department with 20 years of service. Mr. Bellizzi had a love and passion for sports and was an avid Yankee fan. Known as Mr. B., he will be remembered for his love to coach youth sports and was always involved in his childrens and grandsons activities. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and godfather who will be sadly missed. He will leave a legacy that will always live on especially in his two grandsons. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Filomena DAdamo Bellizzi and two brothers, Andrew Bellizzi and an infant brother Frank. Survivors include two loving children Joseph Bellizzi of Milford and Rose Parravano and her husband Sandro of Shelton, two cherished grandchildren, Nicholas and Steven Parravano, two brothers, Frank Bellizzi and his wife Diana of Florida and Dominic Bellizzi and his wife Geraldine of Long Island, NY, a sister-in-law Dorothy Bellizzi of New Britain, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
