Obituary of Frank J. Fontana

Former Stratford Resident Frank J. Fontana, age 92, of Glastonbury and formerly of Stratford, a retired design engineer for the Bassick Company, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2010 in Hartford Hospital. Born in Ansonia on October 12, 1917, he was a son of the late Joseph and Rose Delfino Fontana. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Fontana was a former resident of Stratford for over 40 years before moving to Glastonbury two years ago. He was pre-deceased by his wife Diana Iannotti Fontana, a brother, Gill Fontana and four sisters, Gemma Bly, Jean Kaye, Jennie Maturo and Helen Sampieri. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Yakovich and her husband John of Glastonbury, a son Joseph F. Fontana of Los Angeles, CA, two grandchildren, David J. Yakovich and his wife Julia of West Hartford and Laura Foster and her husband Jason of New York City, a brother, Guy Fontana of Milford and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Hartford Hospital Cardiac Care ICU nursing staff as well as the staff of the Pulmonary Step Down and Pallative Care units. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
