Obituary of Victor M. Longo

Victor Michael Longo entered into the Gates of Heaven at the age of 94 on Tuesday, July 23, 2013. He was the son of the late John and Adeline Longo and was a lifelong Bridgeport resident. Victor was an Army veteran of World War II serving with the 13th Airborne Infantry Division and was a recipient of the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon and the Victory and Good Conduct medals of Honor. Victor aka fish man was the former owner of Barnum Fish and Chips in Bridgeport for many years. He also worked at Bridgeport Hardware, as a toll collector for the State of Connecticut, in Stratford, a tool crib manager at Raybestos and an usher for the Bridgeport Blue Fish into his 80s. Victor was a friendly and happy person who was outgoing, a big flirt, an animal lover and the life of the party. He loved his wine, women, the Yankees and life in general. He will be truly missed by all of his family and friends. He was a member of the Bridgeport Old Timers Association, Stratford Old Times Association, Stratford VFW Post 9460, Fellow Legionnaire Moose Lodge #289 and an active member of the Stratford YMCA where he swam three times a week until he was 91. Survivors include his son, James (Patricia) Longo of Orange, daughters, Eileen Longo of New Haven and Victoria Longo of Milford, seven grandchildren, Victoria, Daniel, Denise, Christopher, Kevin, Jay and Heather, nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his former wife, Virginia M. Myers of Milford. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Renee Tomisini Longo, two brothers, Frank and John Longo and three sisters, Marie Slimak, Josephine Matthews and Helen Diorio. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full Military Honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
