Obituary of Victor T. Lombardi

U.S. Army Veteran Lombardi -Victor T. Lombardi, age 85, of Stratford, died on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born on July 29, 1921, he was born and raised in Bridgeport and moved to Stratford to raise and enjoy his family. He was the husband of Jane Lombardi and the son of Angelo and Caroline Lombardi. A World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the First Army with the 17th Infantry Battalion 5th Regiment as a Staff Sergeant. From Omaha Beach, his service covered operations from the Normandy Coast, Central Europe Rhineland and the Battle of the Bulge. He was the recipient of the Campaign medals with two Bronze Stars. He was a graduate of Bridgeport Engineering Institute and also attended the University of Bridgeport. He was a retired Industrial Engineer for American Cyanamid of Danbury and previously worked for General Electric Co., Dictaphone Corporation and Norden Radar Systems of United Technologies. He was a member of St Marks Church Mens League, an Honorary Life Membership in the Saint James Council 2370 Knights of Columbus, Veteran of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the National Rifle Association. As an avid golfer, he enjoyed many years of membership at the Patterson Club and also competed in state golf tournaments during the summer months. His love for sports had him playing in industrial softball and bowling leagues. He was a loyal fan of the New York Yankees. However, his greatest joys in life were his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces, to whom he showed total devotion and love. He cherished the time he spent with them and thrived on being a part of their lives. He was predeceased by sisters; Victoria, Rose and Angela and infant brother Patrick and brother Michael. Survivors include his beloved wife Jane of 50 years; his five devoted children, Daughter Caroline and her husband Mario Piselli of Branford and their children, Matthew, Christina and Jennifer, Son, Victor and his wife Andrea of Vero Beach, Florida and their children, Candace and Julianne. Son, Michael and his wife Sally of Phoenix, Arizona and their children, Christopher, Patrick, Brianna and Jillian., Daughter Angela and her husband, John Young of Stratford and their children, Cody, Brittany, Hailey and Ashley, Son Patrick of New Haven, Sister Dorothy Nolting of Stratford, Brother Patrick of Stratford and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, December, 13, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Marks Catholic Church in Stratford. Interment will follow with full military honors in St. Michaels Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
