Obituary of Bernice Logan

Homemaker and Artist Bernice Carty Logan, age 75, of Trumbull, beloved wife of Donald E. Logan, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 17, 2004, surrounded by family and friends. Mrs. Logan, married 53 years, died after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on June 25, 1929 in Bridgeport and grew up in Newtown and was a long time resident of Westport before moving to Trumbull in 1994. At the age of 67, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Paier College of Art in Hamden. Her artwork was selected to represent Connecticut in 1984 at the annual White House Easter display. This artwork is now part of the collection at the Smithsonian Museum. As a volunteer, she taught art at St. Lukes Church in Westport and at the Masonic Home in Wallingford. Mrs. Logan also volunteered for the Red Cross and the Westport Historical Society. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four sons and a daughter, Patrick Logan and his wife Angela of Fairfax Station, Virginia; James Logan and his wife Caren of Deerfield, New Hampshire; Craig Logan and his wife Sharon of Wilton; Brian Logan and his wife Laura of Monroe; and Betsy Rice and her husband Donald of Trumbull. Mrs. Logan had 12 grandchildren: Patrick Logan Jr. of Arlington, Texas; Lori Pavone of Newport, North Carolina; Michelle Gusette of Fairfax Station, Virginia; Duke, Brett and MacKenzie Logan, of Windham, New Hampshire; Sean and Kelly Logan, of Monroe; and Tyler, Justin, Cameron and Logan Rice, of Trumbull. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and by her brother, George Carty of Torrington. She was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Bowdy of Austin, Texas. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at 9 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Aspetuck Cemetery, Easton.
