Obituary of Eleanor F. Forte
In the early morning hours of January 23, 2025, Eleanor Frances Forte, a longtime resident of Huntington, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at the age of 96, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on September 5th, 1928, in New Britain, Connecticut, Eleanor was the daughter of Paul and Mary Salvio. She grew up with her siblings, Louis (Gene), Rita, and Daniel, whom she loved dearly. In February of 1954, Eleanor married the love of her life, Alfred Forte. Together, they designed and built their beautiful and meticulously maintained dream home from the ground up in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where they lived for many years with their beloved German Shepard, Prince.
Eventually, Al and Eleanor sold their home in Bridgeport, and moved to their retirement home in Aspetuck Village in Huntington, where she lovingly cared for her husband until his passing in January 2017. Although they desired their own family, God did not grant them children; that said, Eleanor loved her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, as though they were her own.
Eleanor was strong minded and decisive, and had a bit of a stubborn streak! She will be remembered for her detailed accounts of life events and adventures, words of wisdom for every phase of life, love for her family and friends, and an infectious laugh that was guaranteed to make us all giggle!
During her working years as an Executive Secretary at Sikorsky Aircraft, Eleanor was a devoted and hardworking employee, and was proud of her work and time there. She cultivated lifelong friendships and acquaintances, and enjoyed spending time socializing and playing card games. Eleanor and Al loved to travel, including warm sandy beaches, Europe, and numerous car "road trips" to see the glorious sites of the United States. Eleanor and Al split their time for many years between Connecticut and Florida, where they enjoyed the winter months in their second home in Hallandale.
Eleanor is survived by her many loving nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Eleanor is predeceased by her parents and siblings, and most importantly, her beloved husband Al – whose funeral service and burial occurred on January 23, 2017, eight years ago to the day that Eleanor left us. She said good-bye to Al that day in 2017, and this past Thursday morning, he welcomed her back to him; they are now once again together for eternity.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 10:30 AM meet directly at St. Lawrence Church, located at 505 Shelton Avenue, in Shelton, Connecticut. Friends and acquaintances are welcome to join the family in celebrating Eleanor's life at that time.
