Obituary of Kevin Patrick Collins

Kevin Patrick Collins, age 61, of Stratford, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 18, 2025 with his family by his side in beautiful Lake George, New York. He was the beloved husband of 36 years to Margaret (Prancuk) Collins. Born in Flushing, NY on December 8, 1963, he was the son of Alice (O'Neill) Collins and the late William Patrick Collins.

Kevin was the owner and operator of Door Control Inc. - a 3 generational family business started by his father, Bill, in 1972. A job and a life's work that he loved, working with people that became part of his family. Kevin's son, Will, worked closely with Kevin and is continuing the family legacy of being a 'doorman'. Kevin was a man of the outdoors; a love for winter skiing and fireplaces but just as at-home on a beach with a fishing pole in his hand. He was a coach and mentor at Pony Baseball in Stratford and at St. Mark School - caring so deeply that each child learned and had fun. Kevin recently rekindled his love for golf and played with his friends every chance he got. Known for his 'secret' Irish Soda bread recipe that he proudly delivered to his 100 closest friends. Anyone that knew 'Big Kev' knew that he was happy to share his knowledge, his time, and his tools with anyone who asked.

In addition to his loving wife Margie, Kevin is survived by his two sons, William Collins and his wife Melissa, and Brendan Collins and his wife Caroline. He is also deeply cherished by his grandchildren, including William and Melissa's daughters, Dakota and Ellie, and eagerly awaiting the arrival of Brendan and Caroline's son, Quinn. Kevin is further survived by his sister, Kate Dillon and her husband Tom, his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wolosiewicz and her late husband, Henry, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by Margie's siblings - John, Halina, and Leon Prancuk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 9:30 am in St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford. Interment will follow in Huntington Lawn Cemetery, South, 268 Huntington St., Huntington. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.stjude.org, a cause that meant so much to Kevin.
