Obituary of Dr. Sosamma B. George

Dr. Sosamma B. George, age 81, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Babu George. Born in Valakom, Kerala, India on January 28, 1943, she was the daughter of the late P.O. and Annamma (Edicheria) Abraham. Dr. George received her undergraduate degree from Assumption College in Chenganachery, India. She then went on to receive her Medical Degree from the University of Padua Medical College in Padua, Italy, where she learned two languages at the same time, Italian and Medicine. After graduating with her Medical Degree, she did an internship at Louisiana State University, a year of radiology residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Texas and residency programs in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at New York Presbyterian and New York Medical College. After completing her training, her career encompassed work as a physiatrist at Harlem Hospital, St. Raphael's Hospital, Hartford Hospital and Bridgeport Hospital. She was a gifted clinician and a caring and committed health care provider, who attempted to retire three times before actually retiring, each time returning to the work and patient population she loved. She is survived by her loving daughter, Vimala B. Ruszkowski and her husband Michael of Trumbull, her two cherished grandchildren, Mason and Emmett Ruszkowski, two brothers, five sisters and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Babu, she was also predeceased by two sisters. She is remembered by those who knew her best for her energy, laughter, strength, and love. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by her brother, Rev. Augustine Mangalath, on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
