Obituary of Maria (Luzita) Pinto Lopes

Maria (Luzita) Pinto Lopes, age 85, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Alvaro Lopes, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2024 in the comfort of her home. Born on June 30, 1939 in Esmolfe, Penalva do Castelo, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Emidio Albuquerque Pinto and Laura DeJesus Pinto.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Luzita always put the needs of her family before her own. She enjoyed when the family was together celebrating and creating memories. The unconditional love she gave and the values she taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed by all.

Survivors include her two loving sons, Rui Paul Lopes and his wife Karen and George P. Lopes and his fiancé Neelab Hussaini, two cherished and adored grandchildren, Brandon Lopes and his wife Rhiannon and Lauren Lopes and her fiancé Garrett D'Amato, two brothers Herminio Pinto and his wife Lucinda, and Alexandre Pinto and his wife Cecilia, a goddaughter, Maria Pinto Goncalves, a godson, Alvaro Albuquerque, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and relatives in Portugal.

Luzita was predeceased by her siblings, Alfredo Pinto, Antonio Albuquerque, Micas Santos, Olivia Lagos, Laura Pinto Albuquerque and Nazare Pinto, nephews, Alfredo Albuquerque Sr., Antonio Albuquerque, Marco Ventura and Jason Ribeiro.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. directly in Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Rd., Fairfield. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, January 6, 2025 from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
