Obituary of Julio Goncalves Gomes

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Julio Goncalves Gomes, a gentle soul who left us on November 15, 2024 at the age of 63. Julio was a cherished member of our community, known for his kindness, honesty, and passion for life. Born on April 5, 1961 in Serraquinhos Portugal and coming to the Unites States in January 1993.

Julio dedicated his life to the construction industry and worked many years for both Mark IV and Complete Construction. His hard work and craftsmanship were admired by all who had the pleasure of working with him.

Julio was an avid hunter. His hunting trips with friends were filled with stories of adventure and laughter, and he shared his love for the sport with friends and creating memories that will be cherished forever. Julio was also a proud member of the Vasco de Gama Portuguese Club in Bridgeport, where he celebrated his heritage and found a sense of community. He was also a passionate soccer fan, Julio was devoted to his favorite team, Sporting. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and he could often be found cheering them on with his friends and community at while at Vasco de Gama. Julio is survived by many dear friends who were more like family. His gentle spirit, kind heart, and generous nature touched the lives of everyone he met. He will be remembered for his warm personality and infectious smile.

Survivors include his two brothers, Manuel Gomes and his wife Maria and Eliseu Gomes and his wife Maria, as well as several nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by siblings, Joaquim, Antonio, Arlindo, Diamantino and Albertino.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 465 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Relatives and friends can visit and celebrate Julio's life and legacy on Saturday in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull form 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, friends are accepting donations be made to help Julio be buried next to his parents in Portugal.
