Obituary of Manuel A. Carvalho
Manuel A. Carvalho, age 71, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital with his loving family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Ilda (Silveira) Carvalho. Born in Saõ Pedro de Agostem, Chaves, Portugal on August 8, 1953, he was a son of the late Antonio Augusto and Balbina (Carvalho) Rodrigues and was a longtime resident of Shelton.
Manuel emigrated to the United States from Portugal in 1976 to begin a new chapter in his life. He spent many years before his retirement working in the construction field as a foreman with Hi Ho Daddario of Bridgeport, FGB Construction and Deering Construction both of Norwalk where he made many good friends. On the weekends he worked as a stone mason designing walkways, walls and patios. In his free time, he could be found in his garden, working on the lawn or tending to the chickens in which he generously shared his fresh vegetables and eggs with family and friends. Manny was a member of the Vasco Da Gama Portuguese Club in Bridgeport since 1976 where he enjoyed watching soccer alongside his friends. Above everything his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His face would light up every time they entered the room. His memory will live on in their hearts and all those who knew and loved him. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his beloved wife Ilda of 48 years, survivors include his two loving daughters, Cindy Salamanca and her husband Tony of Milford and Crystal Carvalho and her husband Matthew Duncan of Shelton, a brother, Jose Carvalho Teixeira and his wife Maria, two sisters, Luisa Pereira and her husband Jorge and Lucia Abreu and her husband Antonio and three cherished grandchildren, Cristian, Isabel and Declan as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will take place on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Huntington Lawn Cemetery South in Shelton.
