Obituary of Alvis E. Bennett
Alvis E. Bennett, age 83, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Bridgeport Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in St. Ann, Jamaica on December 12, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Willesley Williams and Mama-Lee Grant. She was a longtime resident of the Bronx, New York, before recently moving to Bridgeport.
Alvis worked at Francis Schervier Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Riverdale, NY, and St. Patrick's Home in the Bronx, NY, for over 30 years, where she provided caring and dedicated service to all the patients. In her retirement, her devotion to compassionate care continued as she became a private caregiver for another 8 years. Alvis enjoyed shopping and casino trips with family and friends, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family during the holidays and if you knew Alvis you knew she was a New Yorker, who loved her Knicks and her Yankees. Alvis was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Alvis is survived by her five children: Michael and his wife Andrea, Denese, Garnett and his wife Sheryl, Andrew, and Sheldon and his wife Karen; 13 beloved grandchildren: Troy Jr., Makeda, Tiffany, Semegnesh (Seggy), Kevaun, Taniya, Deshawn, Jovaun, Jazmin-Paige, Jayda, Aiden, Christian, and Bailee; and cherished great-grandchildren: Adrielle, Jovaine, Arianna, Brittania, Taliyah, Adonna, Gianni, Tristen and Le'Andro. She was predeceased by her son, Troy.
