Obituary of Genevieve L. Companik

Genevieve L. Companik, age 87, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday August 15, 2024. Born in Bridgeport on May 8, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Florence (Santacroce) Companik.

Genevieve was an office manager for over 30 years at E & F Construction before her retirement. She had a passion for crocheting, often making baby blankets for family members in addition to making crochet donations to church. Another one of her passions was completing jigsaw puzzles. She was always working at a puzzle on the table, which generated conversation and participation when anyone visited. Two of her favorite completed puzzles are framed and proudly displayed in her home.

Genevieve was a woman of great faith and a dedicated parishioner of St. Theresa Church, where she faithfully attended Mass. She was also an avid NY Yankees fan and followed them all season long. But her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her family. She had a special bond with her sister Mary Ann, evidenced by the fact that they lived together for their entire lives, making them truly inseparable. Genevieve was well known as a second mother to her nieces and nephews, and another grandmother to her great-nieces and nephews. The traditions and values she embodied will live on in the lives of all her family forever.

Survivors include a beloved brother, Charles Companik and his wife Ann, her loving nieces and nephews; Diane Pecora and her husband Brian, Mary Ann Ruospo and her husband Joe, Linda Seaman and her husband Rodney, Frank Companik and his wife Patricia, Richard Companik and his husband Paul and a nephew-in-law, Idilio DeVellis, as well as many grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Ann Lewis, and a niece, Sharon DeVellis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Theresa's Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. There will not be any calling hours. Arrangements in care of the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
