Obituary of Angelo R. Vergara
Angelo R. “Papi” Vergara, age 91, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Minerva (Garcia) Vergara. Born in Banes, Cuba on October 16, 1932 he was the son of the late Manuel and Ines (Utria) Vergara. Mr. Vergara had worked as a truck driver for Arnold’s Bakery with over 32 years of dedicated and building many friendships along the way prior to his retirement. His enjoyment of driving was satisfied in his retirement by his weekly trips to Costco for all the “must haves”. Angelo was a huge supporter of Donald Trump and loved all things news and politics related. He also enjoyed watching all the old cowboy and Indian movies that he had missed while working. Unfortunately, Angelo never got a chance to return to his beloved homeland of Cuba which he had wished to be able to do. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his beloved wife Minerva of 63 years, survivors include his devoted children, Maria Bahr and her husband David, Edward Vergara and his wife Diane and Doreen Testani and her fiancé Joe Brown, his cherished grandchildren, Vincent Testani Jr, Nicholas Testani, Denise Bahr, Danielle Bahr, David Bahr, Victoria Vergara, Michael Vergara and Thomas Vergara, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Kozma and her husband Thomas.
