Obituary of Dorothea M. Cueto

Dorothea M. Porciello Cueto, age 91, of Milford and formerly of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Paul A. Cueto Sr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2024 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bridgeport on November 22, 1932, she was the daughter of the late James and Philomena Cocivi Porciello.

Dorothea was the Valedictorian of the Bullard Havens Technical School Class of 1952 and was a retired employee of the former Vitramon Corp.

A dedicated and lifelong parishioner of St. Raphael Church and St. Margaret Shrine, she was a member and past president of the Ladies Altar Guild and volunteered countless hours over the years. She loved to cook for her family and truly enjoyed the tradition of Family Dinner every Sunday. The holidays were her specialty; she took pride in making her traditional Italian feast at Easter and Christmas and passed those traditions down to her children and grandchildren. A longtime tradition of her reading The Night Before Christmas to her family each Christmas Eve will be missed. There wasn't a craft she didn't master though ceramics and crocheting were her favorites. Many people have a warm hat or ceramic Christmas tree to remember her by.

She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother; always putting each of their needs before her own. The unconditional love she gave and the values she taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Dorothea will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her two loving children, daughter Dolores (Cueto) Mason and husband Steve, son John R. Cueto and daughter in law Carmela (Alibrandi) Cueto, three cherished grandchildren, Lauren Mason, James Cueto (Sheila), Alyssa Rosso (Matthew),  eight amazing great grandchildren, Tanner, Aubree, Justina, Noah, Victoria, Fiona, Timothy and Beatrix, several nieces and nephews John, Bob (Mary), Hil (Cheryl) Estock, Margarita Estock (Vince) Arduini, Richard (Sue) Linane among many others. Her lifelong friends Phyllis DeMasi, Dolores Platchko, and Judy Duva,

She was predeceased by two sons, Paul A. Cueto Jr. and James J. Cueto, three daughters, Anita L. Cueto, Mary Cueto and Theresa A. (Cueto) Rosso along with an adoring grandson, Andrew S. Mason, her brother Joseph A. Porciello as well as her childhood friend, Dolores Caggiano Bertola and loving sisters and brothers in laws, especially Dolores (Cueto) and John Estock, Anita (Cueto) Richard Linane, Joseph and Helen Cueto along with many others.

A very special thanks to the staffs at Milford Healthcare and especially those at Constellation Hospice Care along with special care givers, Kerry, Laima, Michelle, Alisha and Chica. We would be extremely remiss if we did not extend our gratitude to Nina and the staff at the Eisenhower Senior Center in Bridgeport.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margaret Shrine, 2539 Park Ave., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Ladies Altar Guild of St. Margaret Shrine, 2539 Park Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06604.

And to all a Good Night.
