Obituary of Lillian E. Coppola

Lillian Spinelli Coppola, age 81, of Georgia and formerly of Stratford, beloved wife of Giuseppe Coppola, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25, 2024 with her loving and devoted family by her side. Born in Faeto, Italy on May 5, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Angela Girardi Spinelli.

In addition to her beloved husband of 57 years, Giuseppe, survivors include a loving son, Vincent Coppola and his wife Claudine of New Britain, her sisters Antonia Fazio and Giovinia Petitti, and her son-in-law, Brian Wood, cherished grandchildren, Elena and Christina Wood, Joseph and Lillianna Coppola, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Angela Coppola Wood, a brother, Pietro Spinelli, two brothers-in-law, Natale Fazio and Domenico Petitti. 

Lillian spent many years working at Sikorsky Aircraft and enjoyed her time there until her retirement.  Lillian was also an amazing mother, sister, wife and friend who loved having the people she loved around her. She was an amazing cook and loved hosting big family holiday get-togethers and weekly Sunday family dinners. She had high energy and was always taking care of everyone.  For the last 6 years, Lillian, her husband Giuseppe and sister Antonia moved to Alpharetta, Georgia to be with their son and his wife to help raise their twin grandchildren, Joseph and Lillianna. Lillian was always giving to her family and always there for anything they may need.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
