Obituary of Joseph Sorrentino

Joseph Sorrentino, age 79, of Bridgeport passed away suddenly on Friday, May 24, 2024 in the comfort of his home. Born in Bridgeport on October 29, 1944, he was a son of the late Louis and Emily (DeVitto) Sorrentino. Joe was a hard-working individual whose sole mission in life was to take care of his family and provide for them the best way he could.  This was exemplified with the work ethic that he instilled in each of his children. Joe operated his own landscaping business and built many lasting friendships over the years. He enjoyed fishing and also enjoyed shooting pool and playing chess with his family and friends. His greatest enjoyment however was found in the time he spent surrounded by his family. A loving and devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving children, Janeen Navarro and her husband Francisco of Bridgeport, James Dahr and his wife Erica of Milford, Joseph Sorrentino and his fiancée Amanda of West Haven and Alex Sorrentino and his wife Valerie of Ansonia, his children’s mother, Gail Paolucci of Milford, his cherished grandchildren, Piero Lo Strappo Jr and his wife Marcy, Vincenzo Sorrentino, Nevaeh Sorrentino, Michael Dahr, Giovanni Sorrentino, Matteo Sorrentino and Giuseppe Sorrentino, his adored great granddaughter, Ellie Lo Strappo, his sister, Marie DeNigris, his brother, Louis Sorrentino, as well as several nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by sisters, Emily Sorrentino and Gwendolyn Garrison and a brother Anthony Sorrentino.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. directly in Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Dr., Ansonia. At Joe’s request there will be no calling hours and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
