Obituary of Johanna Angelo

Johanna Baptista Angelo, age 90, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Raft C. Angelo, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024 with her loving family by her side. Born on March 24, 1934 in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late John and Phyllis Dias Baptista. Johanna was a health care provider for a substantial amount of her life and spent countless hours caring for the elderly. She enjoyed listening to music, especially Cape Verdean music. She also enjoyed dancing and loved watching old western movies and shows, especially "Bonanza." But above of all, family was most important to her. She was a loving and dedicated sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was at her best when the family was together for holidays and celebrations, creating memories to last a lifetime. The unconditional love she gave and the values she taught everyone will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her two loving daughters, Maria J. Angelo of Elgin, SC and Cynthia D. Vega and her husband Hipolito of Bridgeport, seven cherished grandchildren, Johanna D. Angelo, Richard Mercado, Christopher Vega and his wife Karim, Raymond Mercado, Kristina Angelo, John Angelo and his wife Sharice and Erick M. Angelo, 10 adored great grandchildren, Faith Cruz, Gabriela Vega, Christopher Vega Jr., Aaron Mercado, Brianna Mercado, Izeyha Rosario, John Michael Angelo, Victoria Angelo, Mateo Colon and Mason Angelo, a great great granddaughter, Ky'La Rosario, two sisters, Caroline Ramalho and Debra Baptista, three brothers, Ferdinand Baptista and his wife Betty, Manuel Baptista and his wife Lee and Gilbert Baptista, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Raft J. Angelo, a granddaughter, Melanie Sequeira, five brothers, Evelino, Gregory, Richard, John and Dennis Baptista and a sister, Catherine Andrade. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 10:30 am in St. Augustine Cathedral, 359 Washington Ave., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
