Obituary of Thomas F. Russell

Thomas F. Russell, age 85 of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024 at the Jewish Home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Eileen (Michaelson) Russell. Born in Bridgeport on October 29, 1938, he was a son of the late Thomas and Cecelia (Antoni) Russell and was a longtime resident of Shelton and Trumbull.

Thomas's father passed at an early age and his mother later married his stepfather, William Boston. He began working in his younger years helping to support his family. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the U.S Marine Corps. When Thomas returned home from the Marines, he met his wife Eileen and they started a family. He worked as a police officer and moved his way up the ranks to a Detective for the City of Bridgeport PD and had a remarkable career. He is well known to the community, and many are thankful to him for his great service. Even in his later years people would recognize him and thank him for the impact he had on their lives. Thomas was a true patron to society helping others. Tom frequented restaurants and loved to go on long scenic drives with family or friends. He was a generous man who was very selfless, helping a stranger was commonplace for him. A philanthropist who regularly donated to charities for children & veterans. A devoted parishioner of St Jude Church where he regularly held masses for his late wife Eileen. Thomas was good at everything that he did, including being a great father, grandfather, great grandfather, and husband. His greatest love was his family and he lived every day to support and care for each of them.

Survivors include his two loving sons, Thomas Russell and his wife Luz (Lucy) and John Russell and his wife Nelida (Nellie), a brother, David Boston (Joyce) a sister, Catherine Curwen (Robert), five beloved grandchildren, Jacquelynn Connor (Jeremy), Meghan Esteves (Kevin), Loreen Nieves (Jason Matthews), Juan Mercado-Russell and Joel Mercado-Russell and five cherished great grandchildren, Alexiah, Cassidy, Jeremy Jr., Isabella and Koda as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Eileen, his parents Thomas, Cecilia, and stepfather William, a great grandson, Logan, two brothers, William and Robert Boston and a sister, Marilyn Gay.

Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Jude Church, 505 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe.
