Chris, Vicki and all your family,
I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your dad. Cousin Joe was the ultimate family man. I always felt welcome in his home or wherever he was present. He asked more questions about how I was doing than telling me about himself. Not many people are like that. Then there was his wit and sense of humor. He always had a joke or humorous story ready. I'm sure that you will remember many of his dad jokes over the years. I'll need a few more years to even come close to his repertoire.
I thank God for his earthly life and remain faithful that he will share his heavenly life with his bride Cousin Virginia. He was and remains an example of devotion to family that I know you will carry with you. I pray for comfort and peace at this difficult time, safe in the knowledge that he lived to the fullest and shared it with those that he loved.
Love,
Bruce Emond

Uncle Joe was a wonderful uncle. I loved that our relationship continued to grow after many years, despite the fact that I moved away from Connecticut as a young adult. It was such a blessing overhearing his phone conversations with my Mom, who lived with us. They spoke on the phone to each other virtually every day. She lived a long life as well (94 years) and they were very close. He made her laugh all the time with his terrific sense of humor. I also loved when he and Chris visited our family in California. Lot of stories, jokes and talking sports.
He had that lovely smile that was accentuated when he told his many jokes. He loved talking sports with my husband and he was our best UCLA east coast representative, proudly wearing his Bruin gear.
He was also the best tour guide. During one of our New York visits, we took his tour. So awesome. He had everyone laughing!
My brothers and I fondly recall visiting him and Aunt Virginia at the pharmacy. He always stopped what he was doing behind the counter to greet and talk with us. Always the gracious host.
He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend.
I will never forget him.

I have such fond memories of Joe. I worked for him at Village Square Pharmacy when I was in high school and college and I learned so much from him in that job. He set such good examples on so many things such as work ethic, customer service, business practices, and compassion for people. I also learned a lot about family health by listening to him answer peoples' questions about over the counter remedies and medications. I have thought of him every time I decided for myself or for my kids between an antihistamine, decongestant, cough suppressant, or expectorant!! Joe was very serious about his business, but also very fun to work with. He was full of one liner jokes, and one that I still say out loud at least once every summer is, "The heat is in tents!!"
Chris you may recall, the band you were with in 1984 playing at my wedding at the Stone Barn. It was the hottest day of the year! You guys were great, and I would not have had such a fun band without your Dad connecting us.
Chris & Vikki, your Dad was a wonderful man and he will always be remembered by the many people he was so kind to over the years. I am so sorry for your loss.

Thank you so much for your beautiful tribute Diane. I remember that wedding! You and your guests that day made us play even better because of everyone's energy and enthusiasm. I never heard the one about the "tents". that is hilarious. Dad thrived when he was in his stores throughout the years. He loved his work and engaging with the people who worked for him. Your words have touched my heart.

Dear Chris and Vikki,
Thinking and praying for your strength on the passing of your Dad. I will never forget your Dad's great sense of humor, handsome smile and his friendly gentle ways. I'm sure my Uncle Joe and Auntie Gin are now together again. I bet they are beaming with pride on how they raised such a loving and nurturing son and daughter, all because they were so loving and nurturing. What a great legacy they left for Jackson and Juliette and future generations to come.
Love,
Kim

Always loved seeing him and having interesting conversations.
I too have fond memories of eating pepper and egg sandwiches on the trips he and auntie Gin took me on, to Maine.

I have such fond memories of my Uncle Joe. As a child, I loved visiting his drug store whenever we came to Bridgeport - he was busy filling prescriptions but always had time for us and even allowed us to use the cash register to ring up those 5 cents chocolate bars that he gave us. We often went to Yankee Stadium and had so much fun at the games. Uncle Joe loved sports and knew everything about each player. Those days were great experiences - including eating egg and pepper sandwiches that my grandmother made. Yes, we brought those sandwiches in brown paper bags while everyone else around us was eating hot dogs. No way would I trade those sandwiches for a hot dog. I believe Uncle Joe said the same thing! As an adult, I continued to enjoy Uncle Joe's company - he was always interested in my career, our children and life in Florida. He was funny, engaging and always had interesting stories to share. I will miss Uncle Joe but his positive outlook and cheerful spirit will always continue to inspire me to see the good things in life.
Love,

What great memories of a super uncle for all of my 72 years. A great extended family to be a part of and traditions to keep alive. I always looked forward to the new cars he bought Aunt “Ginny” on a regular basis and ‘working’ with him his various Drug Stores.
Most importantly to me was that, after I became somewhat of an “adult”, we became friends as adults just not as Uncle and Nephew. He was never afraid to be honest with me encouraging me when I did “right” and giving me tough love when I did “wrong”.
I’ll miss all of our sports discussions but he left a great legacy with Chris and Vikki and if there is any silver lining is that I will be closer to them next year for more family gatherings just like the old days on Deacon St. and Brion Drive.
Love Always,
My generation’s “Joe”
