Obituary of Giovanni Paniccia

Giovanni Paniccia, age 93, of Bridgeport, passed away at his home on Sunday, February 25, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Domenica (Noce) Paniccia. Born in Torrice, Province of Frosinone, Italy on June 30, 1930, he was a son of the late Antonio and Rosa (Marini) Paniccia and was a longtime resident of Bridgeport. Giovanni married the love of his life Domenica on January 11, 1958 in Italy where they began to raise their family together after he served his country, with great pride in the Italian army as a communication operator where he was very well liked and appreciated by his fellow commanders. He later migrated to the United States in 1972 to work and find a home for his wife and four children and in 1974 he brought his family to Bridgeport to their new home and new life in the U.S. Giovanni was a mason and took great pride in his work, and his craftsmanship was well known throughout the industry. He retired after over 40 years of dedicated service at Ardmare Construction. When he wasn't working, he spent countless hours tending to his yard and vegetable garden. He had a passion for making wine, prosciutto and homemade sausage and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends at dinners and get togethers. A devout catholic, he was a parishioner and usher at St. Raphael parish and St. Margaret Shrine. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and brother and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife Domenica, survivors include four loving children, Antonia Creo, Carlo Paniccia, both of Bridgeport, Lucia Christie and her fiancé, Gary Gray of FL and Rossana Ionescu and her husband Mike of New York, City, a brother, Francesco Paniccia, two beloved grandchildren, Pasquale Creo of Stratford, and Melissa Creo of Bridgeport, a cherished great granddaughter, Sophia Creo, three step grandchildren, Katie, Georgia and Michael Ionescu, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in both the U.S. and Italy. He also leaves his furry granddaughter, Cappuccina. He was predeceased by brothers, Sebastiano and Pasquale Paniccia and sisters, Lucia Marini and Elisiena Savone and a son-in-law, Mario Creo.
