Obituary of Michael O. Leone

Michael O. Leone, age 97, a long time resident of Stratford, died on Saturday, January 1, 2011 in Bridgeport Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Georgiana Stracquadanio. Mr. Leone was born in Modica, Sicily, on October 29, 1913, a son of the late Luigi and Angelina Stracquadanio Leone. A meat cutter by trade, he worked for over 30 years at the former First National. He was a member of the Trinacria Society, an active member of the Baldwin Center and a parishioner of St. James Church in Stratford, where he served proudly as head usher of the 4:30p.m Mass. Michael enjoyed travelling, cooking, wood working, gardening, reading and the Boy Scouts. Michael always looked forward to watching his girls, the UCONN Lady Huskies. Most of all he enjoyed the company of his family and friends.

Survivors include his three loving children, Eileen Leone, Michael Leone and his wife Mary Alice, Linda Goldin and her husband Richard and a brother Benedetto Leone and his wife Patricia. He was known as Nonno to his 17 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers George and Lou Leone. 

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in St. James Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m.
