Lisa, and family, it has been a very long time since we have been in touch, but I came upon this notice and wanted to extend my deepest sympathies to you. I remember your kind dad, when I would visit as school age friends. God Bless, rest in peace.

May you rest in peace Nick. You had my son, John, as one of your students. You were an incredible administrator of the University School and were able to "get through" to the students far better than anyone else because you respected them and in turn received their respect. My son has excelled in life and is very successful. He is the vice president of information technology systems at a company in New York. I truly believe that you were the catalyst. My deepest condolences to your family for the loss of their patriarch.

Mr. Macol was a blessing to Me and the rest of the kids in my class. He was a man who had a profound impact in the most embarrassing time of my life, but with his guidance I was able to focus and graduate high school. Now I’m going on my 20th year as an EMT with The FDNY’s Bureau of EMS, I served in The Army National Guard here in CT and after five decades I’m finally get my Bachelors at Western Connecticut University located in the city I grew up in. That man also helped Me battle mental illness and WIN! On behalf of Myself and the rest of The Class of 1984 at The University School, “ thank you Mr. Macol for your hard work and dedication to us, in spite of the fact we driove you nuts at times , you helped us immensely. God Blees and RIP

My lasting memory of Nick must always include the lyrics from the song "The Rose" that he insisted be played at every University School graduation ceremony : "I say love, it is a flower/And you, its only seed". What a powerful message to our students and what a lasting tribute to the person who so wholly embraced the beauty of that idea. Nick was a good man, and I will miss him. My sincerest condolences to his entire family. Margaret
