Obituary of Margaret Strich

Margaret "Peggy" (Jackson) Strich, age 74, of Trumbull, beloved wife of John Strich, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2023 with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on July 9, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Phyllis (Mascia) Jackson. A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with a degree in Special Education, Margaret worked as an educator for a short time, before entering the finance field and retiring a career at People's United Bank as a Customer Service Agent. Peggy loved to engage with and help people, and this job was a perfect match!

Peggy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. To quote her favorite band of all time, the Beatles, "All you need is love", and those are words Peggy lived by. She loved you no matter what, regardless of who you were or what you did. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her smile would light the room when they were by her side. Grammy, as she was known to them, would do anything for her grandchildren and always made sure they were happy and well fed. And she let everyone else know how much she loved them. Peggy never missed the opportunity to tell someone else about their accomplishments, no matter how big or small. She also loved animals, especially dogs. She gave just as much love and attention to her 3 canine grandchildren as she did the 5 human ones, often showering them with gifts on holidays and birthdays as well. Few things made her smile like talking about her beloved and since passed Cairn Terrier, Jeremy.

Peggy had many interests and hobbies that filled her with happiness. She was an avid decorator and painter and took great joy in decorating her home or curating and displaying decorations for every holiday. When her children were young, decorating for holidays would often be a multi-day event filled with music, refreshments, and joy. She loved to cook. Spurred by a family with a wide-ranging culinary background, nothing brought her more happiness than preparing meals of Italian meat sauce, Armenian sarmas, Slovakian stuffed cabbage, or mastering the art of the traditional apple pie. She loved to travel. She and John traveled the world together during their retirement years, on trips that took them across the US, Caribbean, Canada, South America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Russia. She always put everyone before herself and all who knew her will always remember and love her for that. She will be deeply missed.

In addition to her beloved husband of 51 years, John, survivors include her two loving children, David Strich and his wife Jean of Washington, D.C. and Jennifer Cavuoto and her husband Christopher of Trumbull, her five cherished and adored grandchildren: Ella, Anne, and Rose Strich and Zoe and Benjamin Cavuoto, her brother Charles Jackson and his wife Elizabeth of Shelton, her sister-in-law Donna Jackson of Leesburg FL, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Jackson.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Funeral Services and interment will be held privately. To leave an online condolence please visit www.abriola.com.
