Obituary of Clementina Mendes Valdegas Gonçalves

Clementina Mendes Valdegas Gonçalves, age 80, of Shelton, beloved wife of Jaime Gonçalves, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2023 with her loving family by her side. Born on February 6, 1943 in Antigo Sarraquinhos, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Antonio Valdegas and Joaquina Mendes. 

A retired employee of Cornwall & Patterson, she loved spending time in her flower garden, sharing the seeds with everyone. It brought her such joy to spread the beauty of her flowers. 

Clementina was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always put the needs of her family before her own. She cherished when the family was together creating memories. The unconditional love she gave and the values she taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed. 

In addition to her beloved husband of 56 years, Jaime, survivors include her six loving children, Nelson Moreno and his wife Anne, Manuel Moreno and his wife Laura, Joaquina Fernandes and her husband Orlando, Maria Rotunno and her husband Jason, all of Trumbull, Natividade Gomes and her husband Miguel of Shelton and Jaime Moreno and his wife Chanté of Trumbull, nine cherished grandchildren, Nick Moreno, Olivia and Jonathon Moreno, Orlando Fernandes, Gabriela Gomes, Jason and Lucas Rotunno, and Catalina and Vienna Moreno, an adored great granddaughter, Cali Moreno, a brother Agostinho Valdegas and his wife Natividade, a nephew, Domingos Valdegas, as well as several additional family members in the U.S. and Portugal. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
