Obituary of Patsy J. Notarnicola

During the early morning of September 16, 2023, Pat left us from CT Hospice in Branford CT to return home and follow the faith he strongly held his whole life.

Born on March 18, 1935, Pat was an integral part of a close-knit family including his parents, three brothers, and his sister.  He graduated from Harding High School in 1953 and followed the path of his father as a meat cutter.  He opened his own business in Bridgeport in 1965 which he operated until 1987.  Pat married Rhoda Allen in 1961, and had his first child in 1962, Pat Jr.  In 1965 his daughter Lisa was born, and the family moved to Trumbull where he resided for the rest of his life.

Pat will be most remembered for his generosity, his devotion to faith and family, and always making himself available to help others in need.  He always believed and made it known that he had an incredibly blessed life.  Always open-minded, Pat tried to experience as much as he could, cherished his family and was usually the highlight and positive light at every gathering.  He was always a true giver and never a taker. He was a guiding light to his family and friends; may he continue to watch over us and guide us as he did for all his years.   Pat was a giving man who always gave everyone the benefit of the doubt.  He also loved his New York Yankees and the New York Giants following them to the end.

He was a member of the Bridgeport Lions club for more than 49 years.  He lived by the Lions motto “we serve” and was club president numerous times along with serving as zone chairman. Pat spent many Thanksgivings volunteering at the Thomas Merton House before sharing a holiday dinner with his family. He was also a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 16 of St. Margaret’s Shrine.

Pat was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Joe and Sam, his sister Rose, Rhoda, and his longtime companion Edith Bensey.

Pat is survived by his son Pat Notarnicola Jr/Kathy Howland, his daughter Lisa Mathis/Chuck, his granddaughter, Eryca Lopez, his great grandchildren, Yandell and Zion Torrez, his brother Harry, sister-in-law Mary, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He is also blessed to leave behind a long list of special friends and extended family. The family would like to thank his friends, family, hospice teams, and others that helped him along his final journey, many of which made special bonds.  Pat was loved and will be truly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023 meeting directly in Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Ave., Stratford.  Friends may greet the family on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.  Those desiring can make memorial contributions for the family’s wishes through the funeral home.  To leave an online condolence, visit www.abriola.com.
