Obituary of Gina Cervoni

Gina (Astolfi) Cervoni, age 93, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at her home with her devoted daughter by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Domenico Cervoni. Born in Boville Ernica, Italy on October 18, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Rocco and Angela Astolfi. Gina had worked for the City of Bridgeport in the maintenance department for many years. She was a woman of great faith and an active member of St. Patrick Church in Bridgeport, where she was instrumental in the organizing of their Italian Feast. Gina was devoted to her friends and enjoyed cooking and baking. She was affectionately referred to as the “cookie lady” for the delectable treats she shared with friends and relatives. Her greatest enjoyment however was found in the time she spent surrounded by her family. A loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Rosa Cervoni of Bridgeport, as well as many nieces and nephews in the United States and in Italy. In addition to her beloved husband Domenico, she is also predeceased by her sisters, Alessandra Zeppieri and Luisa Stirpe, and her brother, Alfredo Astolfi.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Gina’s longtime caregiver, Nadya. The care, kindness, and compassion she extended will never be forgotten.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Patrick Church, 851 North Ave., Bridgeport. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. For online condolences, please visit us at www.abriola.com.
