Obituary of Doris Butka
Doris Potter Butka, age 93, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late John Butka, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 18, 2023 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bridgeport on September 11, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy Shey Potter. Doris' lineage traces back to the original Mayflower passengers, John Howland specifically. She retired from Peoples United Bank after more than 30 years of dedicated service as a supervisor for their telephone banking.
She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was dedicated to the love and care of her family. She enjoyed cooking for everyone and was the host of many family gatherings and holidays. She was known for her hospitality, both at home and at church. Doris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include four loving daughters, Carol Ann Anderson and her husband Barton of Louisville, KY, Dianne Stempien and her husband Bruce, Johann Butka and Dorie Lukianuk and her husband Philip all of Trumbull, seven cherished grandchildren, Hans Anderson and his wife Vanessa. Heidi Baxter and her husband Andy, Bethany Mancini and her husband John, Brian Stempien and his wife Sarah, Anna Fields and her husband Philip and Jonathan Lukianuk, and Lauren Bivona and her husband Jeffrey and 18 incredibly loved great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Walter Potter and two sisters, Grace McGill and Elizabeth Keenan.
All funeral services were held privately and internment was in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Arrangements entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
